The first sphere

Medieval theologians ranked the angels into nine orders. These three sit closest to the throne — and they are the strangest looking.

Seraphim

Six wings — two to fly, two to cover the face, two to cover the feet. The burning ones. Isaiah saw them and assumed he was about to die.

Second order

Cherubim

Four faces: man, lion, ox, eagle. Nothing at all like the chubby infants painted onto ceilings centuries later.

Third order

Thrones

Interlocking wheels rimmed with eyes, turning without turning. Ezekiel described them and ran out of vocabulary halfway through.

Washed heavyweight fleece, boxy oversized fit. Full back print, small chest mark, wordmark down the sleeve.

Nothing sits in a warehouse. Each piece is printed and sewn after you buy it, so no design is ever overstocked.

Two colorways, that's it

Washed black and white. Each design is redrawn for its garment rather than inverted, so the linework holds either way.

Years of drawing. Today it goes on sale.

These angels sat in sketchbooks for a long time before they sat on a garment. The hatching on a Throne's wheel is thousands of individual strokes, and a single piece takes weeks to finish. There was never a shortcut available.

The reference is the text itself — Ezekiel, Isaiah, Revelation — rather than the soft Renaissance versions that replaced it. Four faces means four faces. Eyes all around means eyes all around.

Today is the first day any of it is available to buy. No back catalogue, no warehouse, no prior run. If you order from this drop, you are among the first people to own one.

Six orders are still unaccounted for. The second sphere — Dominions, Virtues and Powers — is already in ink, and it drops in phase two.

Who draws these

Every line in this collection comes from one person and one pen.

Olivia, the artist behind Godly Collections
Olivia

Olivia has drawn for as long as she has been able to hold a pen. Not as a hobby picked up recently and not as a means to an end — it is the thing she has always done and the thing she is best at.

She also lives with a condition that stops her from keeping food down. She is fed through a tube, manages ongoing nutritional problems, and on most days does not have the strength to be on her feet for long. Conventional work is not available to her. Drawing is.

Every piece in this collection is hers, made over weeks, one stroke at a time. Godly Collections is how she intends to earn a living from it and cover what her care costs.
